Walking around the Olive Tree, you can breathe in the fresh air, which is why children from distant towns come here as in the past.
The children's hospital was originally founded here by the Olive family in 1896 as a nursery for abandoned and neglected children. They not only went to school here, but also worked on the farmland. Afterwards, a children's convalescent home and, since 1922, a unique forest school operated here - the children spent maximum time outdoors as part of their treatment. They studied in the orchard, slept outside after lunch, worked in the garden and often went for walks, swimming or skating.
Today, respiratory and musculoskeletal diseases and obesity are treated here. You can also visit the area for cultural activities. Concerts or theatre performances take place in the chapel of the hospital and in the adjacent park, and in the summer, film fans head to the grounds for the summer cinema. Tours of the park or chapel are available by appointment.
